All About Hair

When I was going through my Instagram feed, I came across this beautiful soul who have maintained long hair for most of her hair and maintaining short hair from the past 3 years. We are interested to know the story behind her experience and you can read in her own words.

1. Small Intro about you?

"Well, my name is Waleska Rodrigues. I'm 22 years old, Brazilian and a married Woman. I have short hair a little over 3 years ago. And since my first haircut, my life has begun to change for the better. And today I have a YouTube channel where I encourage women to love themselves, seek self-esteem, whatever the haircut, eye color, skin color, height, weight and so on.

2. What's your hair length before? How and when this idea of going short hair struck your mind?

My hair was down the waist before I decided to cut short. I had long hair all my life, but I always admired women with short hair and thought : Someday, I'll be just like them. This idea stayed fizzed in my mind and one fine day I woke up with Long hair and decided to sleep with it short. Haha

3. Did any particular person inspired you for going short hair? Where did you get it cut?

I was inspired by a girl and her Instagram is @nadiaschmidt_ and I always commented on her videos on YouTube and she always responded, encourgaing me to lose my fear. When I decided to cut, no salon accepted to cut a hair of that length. It was very difficult but I found a crazy hairdresser who agreed to cut and since then always short with him.

4. How was the haircut day happened and how did you reach salons and all?

I had already set an appointment with my hairdresser and when the day came I took my best friend and my mother along with me. My friend filmed everything and then I put the video on my YouTube, it was my first video on the channel. My mother did not know if she laughed or cried, hahaha she was very scared that I did not like and be sad with the new look. She let out a scream at the time the hairdresser cut that huge hair that was tied with a rubber band. By the time I felt the scissors cut and suddenly a relief of the weight, I did not stop laughing. It was the best feeling I ever had, taking the day out of my wedding. I immediately looked at myself like a mirror and thought : "That's it GIRL! THAT's IT! VERY GOOD, YOU ARE WONDERFUL AND NOW YES I RECOGNIZE THAT MIRROR! I fell in love with myself at the time. The hair I donated to a cancer hospital where they manufacture wigs for people on treatment.

It was so much good happening at the same time, it was so beautiful. I would not have to regret it. It was not just a HAIRCUT, it was the change of a life, especially MY LIFE.

5. What was the reaction from your near and dear ones?

Coming to the reactions - My friends and family didnot believe that I would really cut and when they saw that I kept to what I said, they were impressed but everyone liked it. My father loved my new look, My mother was a bit scared at first haha... and my husband always supported me a lot, so he was very calm too. Today they say they can not imagine me having long hair again.

6. What's the best compliment you got?

Best Compliment - I remember one day I was at a wedding part and a guy stopped me to say "I was the most elegant woman at the Party". They had called me beautiful but ELEGANT was the first time and I thought "AWWWW, I AM AN ELEGANT WOMAN and elegance has always been the highest quality in a woman for me.

7. Do you have any plans of going more shorter hair like a pixie or buzz or bald?

I do want to yes, it's actually more curiosity to have a buzz, but I have  crack in the skull (yes I'm wierd hahaha). It's from birth and it's the span of a thumb and if I cut too much of hair, this will appear and it will b scary hahaha.

Before and After Pics :

1. Small intro about you?
Myself Hema Singh from Lucknow. Right now I'm doing job in Mumbai.

2. When and How this idea of going bald struck your mind? Any particular incident/person inspired you to do so?
Few months back, I came across few bald girls and also a bald woman , I don't know who they are . But  I noticed that they were feeling very shy. So maine bhi socha ki mai bi bald look rkhungi. But bahaut logo ne mujhe mana kar diya. Tho maine bi bald hona cancel kar diya. Phir suddenly pata nahi kya hua last mid June mey maine kisi ko bina bataye. Head shave kara liya.

3. Where did you get shaved and who accompanied you at the time of your shave?
I did it in a Men Saloon. Bcoz when I checked in two ladies parlor, parlor ne head shave karne se mana kar diya tha. Aur mai akele hi gayi thi. Bina kisi ko bataye. Sirf mere BF ko malum tha.

4. How did you feel at the time of the shave(the moment you are in the barber chair and when he is shaving)?
Head shave karthe samay mujhe bahut darr lag rha tha. Ki mai kese lagungi. Baki sab kya bolenge, ghar wale kya kahenge.

5. How did you feel after looking yourself for the first time in mirror after the new look?
Jab head shave kar ke maine khud dekha. Tho mujhe bahut acha laga. Mai first time itni khoobsurat lag rhi thi. Isiliye maine continue 4 baar head shave karwaya.

6. How did the barber reacted when you asked for headshave?
Haha. First thi woh smajah hi nahi paya k maine kya kaha. Phir wo agree ho gaya  200 rs. me krne  ko. N again n again wo yeh hi kah rha tha. Kya hua madam.kyu krwa rhe ho. Itne ache baal hai. N mujhe bura lag rha hai itne ache baal katte huye. Aap me bahut guts hai. Mai apne baal trim krane me b 10 baar sochta hu n black bla bla.

7. How was your friends and family reaction after seeing you in a bald head?
Meri famili ko bataya toh wo kahne lage kya problem ho gai tumhe, kya bimari hai.  Ya koi dusri takleef. Kuch dosto ne b yahi kaha. Koi bimari ho gai he buy kuch kam hi frnds he jinhone mujhe appreciate kia. Tarif ki.

8. What’s the best compliment you got?
Best compliment.Meri frnd  ka.  U looking damm hot in bald. Acting me try kro..

"I am Lakshmi Venkataraman from Chennai, a typical Madrasi girl studied Visual Communication and now currently working as a program producer in a TV channel.

It was just like any other day I was thinking and I got a question in mind "Have I done anything to the society or the people??""

Then this immediate thought struck my mind "I should do something for giving a smile on someone's face at least for a day". Then I gave a thought on donating my hair. In the same time, I came across a campaign about hair donation. I inquired them about donating my hair. As part of their campaign, they recommended me to Tony and Guy. The hair was handed over to the Doctor from the campaign who accompanied with me. I was a bit scared when they chopped off my lovely hair. Many thoughts were running through my mind like "What will others comment about my new look and all". But then I simply thought it's for a good thing and it's nothing wrong at all to do it.

I feel more confident and also I felt like I have improved myself after this transformation.

Coming to the compliments and comments - "People of my age thought it looked pretty on me. But others mocked at it. The best compliment is from my Mom. She said that I looked even younger and I've gone back to my childhood days as it was quite short".

My family as always supported me.

Small Video of her about Hair Donation

Before and After Hair Donation Pics

This quote is perfect for this beautiful friends -  Asawari and Sharvari. Asawari donated her hair by shaving her head. Sharvari also did the same after she got inspired from her friend's deed. We are lucky enough to hear their experiences and presenting you now the Sharvari's Hair donation experience along with Before and After pics of her.

In her Own Words -

Hi All, My name is Miss. Sharvari Balkrishna Sale and I'm a final year LLB student from Mumbai

My interests are Calligraphy and Handlettering.

My foremost inspiration behind the hair donation is Asawari Chitre. Read her experience in the previous post. Link is given below.

https://allabouthairs9.blogspot.com/2018/08/hair-donation-experience-of-asawari.html

My hair were long and basically were more than 12 inches which is the length requisite for the donation. I still decided to go bald because I really wanted to help completely with what I had. What I feel is if anyone does any kind of donation , he/she should do it without a second thought! I did the same thing.I have supportive parents and friends who encouraged me throughout.

I had my head shaved at a nearby Salon. My two best friends, Asawari and Mrunmayee accompanied me.

Feeling at the time of headshave -

I felt amazing to be honest. I found a different person standing in front of me reminding me how strong I was!! There are a few friends who miss my hair hahah but trust me I don't regret or miss my hair.I haven't till date. I am loving this phase and the short growth.

After going bald I felt very liberated. I was going through personal phases and the feeling that I could bring a smile on someone's face truly changed my life.

There's still a stigma in our society. Mostly people have asked me whether I donated hair at Tirupati..! So that's the thing going around us which we need to change! I hope many more get inspired and do a bit to make the world a happier place❤️.

Before and After Pics

Everyone says "Our Childhood is always the best in our life...". If you ever get a chance to rewind and relive those days, no one ever want to miss that chance. Only few things in our lives can be revisited like our multi-talented Aditi had.

Aditi - Photographer, Artist, Traveller and a Muser. She is well known for her Photography and her art-work. On one of her visits to India, she got a chance to get childhood haircut from her lovable barber.

Revisiting the Childhood Days

Dinu, our barber (one of his talents)! There's a story behind this haircut and it's very special to me. My dad, Dinu used to himself chop mine and my sister's (@dishadinakar ) hair from childhood till the 10th std. We never went to any parlors (even now I hardly go to one). I used to love this kind of haircut somehow. On a Sunday (before noon), he used to chop our grown hair to a boy cut (Since both our parents were working), and that became the signature haircut! Once I entered 11th he refused to do it even though I asked him many times. And then i happened to enter a parlor just for haircut. It's been 12 years since I got this haircut and finally he was ready to do this time, so was I !!!! All happened on the go. All the childhood memories were running in my mind! He used the same stools to sit and scissors to cut. It was a Sunday this time too, coincidentally! Once it was all chopped, that feeling is special and nostalgic. Regardless of how I look, I'm very happy about it. going back to childhood and feeling those old memories in mind is priceless and it will never return, as we get older every single day. Try to stay younger in mind and you will stay happy 😊.
